What is the difference between hot and strip wax?

Hot wax is spread thickly onto the skin and allowed to dry slightly before it is gently peeled away. This method is far less painful as aromatherapy based oils are applied to the skin before hand. This acts as a film on the skin which protects the skin from the wax. The benefits are fewer ingrown hairs, less breakage and therefore longer regrowth periods. This wax also promotes skin hydration and is highly recommended for sensitive areas e.g. face underarms and bikinis. Strip wax is recommended for less sensitive areas, like the legs, arms, back and shoulders. A thin layer of wax is applied to the skin and is then removed with a paper strip.

Can I be waxed during my menstrual cycle?

Waxing during your menstrual cycle is possible however some women may find it too sensitive 1-2 days before there period. If this applies to you and it’s your first treatment try scheduling your treatment for time after this.

Can I have waxing done while I’m pregnant?

Waxing during pregnancy is very popular and all our therapists are trained to ensure all parts of the body are waxed comfortably and safely. The Brazilian and G-String are very popular treatments up to one week before the due date.

Does it hurt?

The Lycon Waxing system is designed to reduce any discomfort to minimum and is packed with aromatherapy based oils like Rose, Lavender and tea tree to soothe and protect the skin through out the treatment. Many of our clients would describe our waxing as virtually pain free. The trick is to wax regularly e.g. 4-6 weeks and try not shaving or use immac in-between treatments as this will make the hairs stronger.

What is the difference between Shaving/Creams and Waxing?

Shaving and creams remove hair from the surface of the skin resulting in quicker regrowth. Waxing removes the hair from the roots which gives a longer lasting result.
